Wczoraj byłem na musicalu Dzień Świstaka we wrocławskim teatrze Capitol. To oczywiście sztuka bazująca na świetnym filmie z lat 90-tych pod tym samym tytułem.
Arogancki, dupkowaty prezenter pogody, Phil Connors (w tej roli Albert Pyśk), wyjeżdża, żeby zrobić relację z Dnia Świstaka, obchodzonego w prowincjonalnym amerykańskim miasteczku Punxsutawney. Chce jak najszybciej odwalić robotę i wracać do domu. Jednak burza śnieżna zmusza go do przenocowania w miasteczku.
Następnego ranka okazuje się, że Phil znalazł się w dziwnej pętli czasowej – znowu jest Dzień Świstaka. Prezenter podejrzewa u siebie chorobę psychiczną, a wciąż i wciąż powtarzający się ten sam dzień prowadzi go na skraj załamania nerwowego. Nawet próby samobójcze nic nie dają, Phil znowu budzi się w małym hoteliku w Punxsutawney, jakby nic się nie stało.
W końcu Phil zakochuje się w Ricie Hanson
(granej przez Mirellę Burcewicz) i wykorzystuje powtarzającą się pętlę czasową,
by poprowadzić ich relację naprzód. Coraz lepiej poznaje też życie
poszczególnych mieszkańców miasteczka – i sam przechodzi stopniową przemianę…
Szczególnie duże wrażenie zrobiły na
mnie pomysłowe techniki teatralne wykorzystane, by przedstawić powtarzające się
sekwencje zdarzeń… Przed spektaklem obawiałem, się, że przeżywanie w kółko tych
samych wydarzeń na scenie może stać się nurzące… Jednak każdy Dzień Świstaka
staje się wyjątkowy, bo główny bohater obiera coraz to inną ścieżkę
postępowania i przeżywa ten sam dzień w zupełnie wyjątkowy sposób...
Sztuka jest musicalem i muszę
przyznać, że piosenki, zwłaszcza te z drugiego aktu, zrobiły na mnie spore
wrażenie!
Phil Connors jest jakby „duchowym
krewniakiem” Ebenezera Scrooge’a, a jego historia jest współczesną wariacją na
temat Opowieści Wigilijnej Charles’a Dickensa. Gra aktorska dwójki głównych
aktorów, Alberta Pyśka i Mirelli Burcewicz, jest świetna, kilka razy się nawet wzruszyłem. Naprawdę warto zobaczyć ten spektakl!

Yesterday
I saw the Groundhog Day musical at the Capitol Theatre in Wrocław. It's
obviously based on the great '90s film of the same name.
Arrogant,
asshole weatherman Phil Connors (played by Albert Pyśk) travels to cover the Groundhog
Day, celebrated in the provincial American town of Punxsutawney. He wants to
finish his job as quickly as possible and return home. However, a snowstorm
forces him to spend the night in town.
The
next morning, Phil finds himself in a strange time loop – it's Groundhog Day
again. The weatherman suspects he's mentally ill, and the repetition of the
same day over and over again brings him to the brink of a nervous breakdown.
Even suicide attempts fail; Phil wakes up again in a small hotel in
Punxsutawney, as if nothing had happened.
Eventually,
Phil falls in love with Rita Hanson (played by Mirella Borcewicz) and uses the
recurring time loop to develop their
relationship. He also learns more and more about the lives of the town's
individual residents—and undergoes a gradual transformation himself…
I was particularly impressed by the ingenious theatrical techniques used to present repetitive sequences of events… Before seeing the performance, I was worried that reliving the same events on stage over and over again might become tedious… However, each Groundhog Day becomes unique, as the main character chooses a different path and experiences the same day in a completely unique way
…
This
is a musical, and I must admit that the songs, especially those in the second
act, made quite an impression on me!
Phil
Connors is a "spiritual relative" of Ebenezer Scrooge, and his story
is a modern twist on Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol. The acting of
the two main actors, Albert Pysiek and Mirella Burcewicz, is superb – I even was
moved to tears several times. This performance is truly worth seeing!
